Some photo sessions happen because of opportunity, and others happen because of inspiration—and this one with my friend Dee was definitely the second kind. Dee is a musician with a look and energy that instantly remind you of the great rock stars of the ’80s. His style, presence, and personality have always caught my eye, so inviting him for a photo session felt completely natural. I wanted to capture everything I see in him: attitude, charisma, and that unmistakable rock-and-roll soul.

We chose Uncle Lou’s Bar in Orlando, Florida, as the backdrop for the shoot—a place full of character, texture, and that gritty charm only authentic bars have. Beyond the main area, one of the most striking spots was the bathroom with its underground, raw aesthetic. The worn-out tiles, graffiti, and low, moody lighting added an edge that instantly transported us into the world of punk stages and back-alley music venues. It became one of the most powerful environments to express Dee’s aesthetic.

Dee stepped into the session with the confidence of someone who knows exactly who he is. Every pose felt effortless, every expression honest. Whether in the bar’s dim corners or standing in the underground-style bathroom, he brought the attitude of someone who didn’t need to imitate a rock star—he simply embodied one. Photographing him was less about directing and more about following his natural rhythm and letting his presence lead the way.

The lighting inside the bar helped shape a cinematic mood throughout the session. Neon reflections, heavy shadows, and the rough textures of the walls and that underground bathroom worked together to amplify his features and the vibe we aimed to capture. Each space told part of the story, creating images that looked like frames pulled from a music documentary. The environment didn’t just complement Dee—it amplified everything about him.

In the end, the results were everything I imagined and more—a powerful visual portrait of a friend who carries music, attitude, and history in everything he does. Photographing Dee wasn’t just a creative project; it was a chance to honor the style and presence that make him unique. And here it is: the beautiful, raw outcome of a session that feels as real, gritty, and inspiring as the man in front of the lens.
